PLZ HELP!!!if my ecuadorian fiance divorced in ecuador is it recognized in the USA?

if my ecuadorian fiance divorced in ecuador is it recognized in the USA? or should he get divorced here as well? since i will eventually apply for his US residence would it be easier if he divorces here as well?
