I know its love that makes a subaru a subaru but what makes a Legacy an Outback?

Have a '97 Leg AWD RHD wagon and would love to get the additional ground clearance of an Outback. Dealer couldn't tell me what parts are different. Any one out there know? I do all my own work (including rebuilding engine after timing belt let go and bent valves) so if it is struts or control arms that need changing, OK. Thanx.
