What is the best way to move a group of 12 cichlids?

I know of the method of individually bagging fish to move them but I was wondering whether I could take a styrofoam cooler, and line it with a large black plastic garbage bag and put all the fish in together. It will be pitch black so i dont think there would be many squables but I dont know for sure.
